Carrier Services — we operate the network, we don't resell it

We hold our own ASN (AS45437) and run the multi-carrier mesh underneath every Internet & Connectivity product we sell. ISPs, enterprises and other carriers buy carrier services from us when the alternative is reselling someone else's portal.

Connect to a network we run ourselves — not a rebadged wholesale link three resellers deep.

Real World is itself an Australian Carriage Service Provider. We operate our own ASN (AS45437) and run the multi-carrier mesh that every Internet & Connectivity product we sell rides on. When you connect to us, the line state, the fault path and the engineering are ours to answer for.

That matters because of how the rest of the market is built. When most ISPs sell you a connection, they're reselling a wholesaler who's reselling a carrier. By the time it reaches you, several organisations have taken a margin and nobody can read the line state — so when something breaks, every party points at the next one up. We run our own carrier-grade network instead: direct relationships with the major Australian carriers, our own peering and transit, and real fibre diagnostics rather than a ticket to a wholesaler.

This is also where scale comes from. Across carrier services and dark fibre the network reaches carrier-grade speeds up to 100 Gbps where the route and the product support it — the headroom enterprise and wholesale buyers need, not a retail ceiling.

ISPs, large enterprises and other carriers buy carrier services from us when the alternative is reselling someone else's portal. Other ISPs would rather build on a real carrier relationship than chain through three wholesalers; enterprises with multi-site, multi-carrier networks bring us non-trivial engineering; government and education customers need carrier-grade services into regional and remote sites; content and platform businesses come for peering, transit and direct interconnect; and sister and peer carriers interconnect with us directly across the Australian mesh.

What carrier-level work actually looks like

  • Service shaped to the customer, not the wholesaler's menu. We can reshape a link to a symmetric profile that matches upload-heavy traffic, or activate a service to a precise specification in a regional location — granular work you can only do when you run the network yourself, not when you take whatever a wholesaler gives you.
  • Fibre engineering, not just provisioning. When a connection needs hands-on diagnosis at the premises, we send an engineer to investigate the line rather than raising a ticket to a wholesaler and waiting.
  • Multi-site carrier change. We move customers between carriers across many sites in an orderly way — every connection and cancellation handled as a managed change with the line state tracked, not lost in a portal.
  • NBN wholesale. We provision and operate NBN services behind partner ISPs — they sell to their customers, we run the underlying carriage.
  • Carrier-to-carrier services. Including for our sister brand Real World Networks, where RWN extends its offering beyond its own greenfield footprint.

The network mesh

We hold direct relationships with the major Australian carriers — including Telstra, Superloop, Vocus and Transgrid — with NBN Co in the mesh as a wholesale upstream. We have presence at Equinix for cross-connect, Megaport for cloud interconnect and IAA (the Internet Association of Australia) for peering. Our own datacentre footprint spans seven Australian cities: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Darwin and Perth.

That mesh lets us choose path by quality, cost and resilience for each service we provision, rather than being locked to a single upstream carrier's coverage map and pricing.

RWN — our sister Greenfields-carrier brand

Real World Networks (RWN) sits alongside us as a separately-branded carrier with Statutory Infrastructure Provider (SIP) designation under the Department of Communications framework. RWN builds and operates its own greenfield telecommunications infrastructure, offering dark fibre on its builds, LBAS NBN-equivalent services in served areas, and Greenfields fibre builds for new developments.

The two brands are genuinely parallel — both deliver real carrier-grade services, and the choice is essentially a relationship-shape decision. Where an RWN customer wants services that extend beyond RWN's own infrastructure, RWN buys from Real World to fulfil: one carrier face for the customer, real underlying delivery through whichever entity owns the infrastructure.

Products on the carrier layer

Carrier Services is the umbrella; the named products on top are how the carrier capability shows up commercially:

Most customers buy one of these products and never need to think about the layer underneath. The customers who do think about it — ISPs, enterprises with deep networking teams, content businesses with peering policies — buy carrier services from us directly.

What's included

  • We operate AS45437 — a working Australian Carriage Service Provider, not a reseller
  • Carrier-grade speeds up to 100 Gbps where the route and product support it
  • Direct interconnect with major Australian carriers, including Telstra, Superloop, Vocus and Transgrid
  • Peering at IAA (Internet Association of Australia), Megaport and Equinix
  • Service profiles shaped to the customer — speed, fault path and provisioning configured to requirement, not a wholesaler's menu
  • NBN wholesale supply to partner ISPs
  • Carrier-to-carrier services — including for our sister brand Real World Networks where it extends beyond its own footprint
  • IP Transit from AS45437 — sold to ISPs, enterprises and content businesses
  • Real engineers reachable for carrier-level escalation, not a wholesaler ticket queue
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 services across our network footprint

Why it matters

Real World is itself a CSP

When a customer needs a link reshaped to a different speed profile, or a service activated to a precise specification in a regional location, that's not something a reseller can do. It's carrier work. We do it because we run our own carrier-grade network as a CSP — we hold AS45437, we shape services ourselves, and we field actual fibre diagnostics.

Underneath every Internet & Connectivity product we sell

Business NBN, Business Ethernet, IP Transit, Private Networks, Dark Fibre and Colocation all sit on the network we operate. Our retail brand HyperConnect rides on it too. The carrier capability isn't a separate business — it's the underlying platform.

Multi-carrier mesh, not single-upstream dependency

We hold direct relationships with major Australian carriers, including Telstra, Superloop, Vocus and Transgrid. That means we choose path by quality, cost and resilience — rather than being locked to whatever one upstream offers.

Fibre engineering, not just provisioning

We field actual fibre diagnostics. When a connection needs hands-on diagnosis at the premises in regional or remote Australia, we send an engineer — not a ticket back to the wholesaler.

A sister Greenfields-carrier brand where customers want it

Real World Networks (RWN) is our sister carrier brand — a Greenfields Carrier with Statutory Infrastructure Provider (SIP) designation under the Department of Communications framework. RWN builds its own greenfield infrastructure and offers dark fibre, LBAS NBN-equivalent services and Greenfields fibre builds on it. Some customers prefer to work with the Greenfields-carrier brand; both deliver real carrier-grade services.
